Eric Cruz Made Honorary Night Stalker

[Fort Campbell, Kentucky] – Eric Cruz, President of Cruz Associates, Inc. (CAI), was recently designated an Honorary Night Stalker by Colonel Philip Ryan, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) (SOAR(A)) Regimental Commander.  Honorary Members of the Regiment positions are designed to recognize non-regimental members for their service to the Regiment.  Working behind the scenes in support of Night Stalkers and their families for nearly two decades, Eric has proven to be as much a Night Stalker as any of us who is wearing or has worn the beret.  He is committed to the Night Stalker ethos and has been an ardent supporter of the Night Stalker Association (NSA).  The modest, green “Cruz” marquis outside the Regiment’s back gate symbolizes that Eric is here to support Night Stalkers.  To that end, he has been fully committed to hiring Special Operations Aviation professionals.  Currently, 71% of all Cruz Associates’ employees are former Special Operations personnel with a cumulative total of over 1326 years of service to the 160th SOAR(A). Congratulations, Eric!

Cruz Racing in the News

[Indianapolis, Indiana] – The Cruz Associates logo was once again on the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. As reported in Racer.com (http://www.racer.com/indycar/item/140967-davison-has-strong-500-run-despite-crash), Cruz’s favorite Australian, James “JD” Davison, received a late call-up to replace the injured Sebastien Bourdais at Dale Coyne Racing. Despite his last-row starting spot, a car that was built for a road course, and a two-year gap since his last IndyCar start, Davison was one of the race’s standouts:  He'd climbed to 16th by lap 69, and with the help of a switch in strategy, was running among the leaders during the final quarter of the race. Davison was the race leader for two laps until a late-race yellow flag brought the field into the pits.  On the ensuing restart, his charge came to an end when he made contact with Oriol Servia – a crash that ultimately spelled the end of the day for Will Power, James Hinchcliffe and Josef Newgarden as well.  From Davison's standpoint, the blame for the crash was shared equally between him and Servia.

"It was a strong run," Davison told RACER. "We started [dead] last and led the Indianapolis 500, so that was pretty awesome.

"We ran a lot of downforce – I've had that experience in the past where I've always wished that I ran more downforce. The engineer concurred, and that's what we did. We improved the car as well – we actually trimmed some of the downforce out. We were just lacking a little bit of top speed, which I would put down to the road course car situation – it had a road course gearbox in there, and that was worth at least 4bhp."

"Exiting Turn, 1 Servia and I were pretty close, and it was probably a give-and-take deal there – I could have given him a bit more room, and he could have lifted," he said.

"But we knew that track position was so important, and selfishly we thought to ourselves that if we want to win it, it was now or never. We did the best we could. It's just a bummer that it ended the way it did. But I'm blessed to be here. I'm so happy for the opportunity, but equally disappointed that an opportunity for a top five was swept away."

Look for the Cruz logo in future Davison races.
