Industrial Maintenance Technician - Carpenter

Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has an open position and is looking for qualified candidates for an Industrial Maintenance Technician - Carpenter. Scope of Performance: Qualified carpenter to support maintenance, repair, and installation of explosive and chemical processing equipment. Technician will work in all explosive and chemical processing areas as determined by management or COR.  Technician shall be subject to physical examinations and certification requirements.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tasks may include but are not limited to routine maintenance, repair, installation and modification to existing or new process equipment.  This work includes hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronics, pipe fitting, and steam fitting.
  • Troubleshoot repairs, modifies, and conducts preventative maintenance on complex electrical, mechanical, and processing systems.
  • Electrical tasks range from bending conduit and pulling wire to wiring 3 phase pumps, motor starters motor control centers, and control wiring.
  • Technician may be required to execute written maintenance procedures and document work completed on record sheets to be archived in data base. 

Education and Experience – Required: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to gain/maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Ability to pass Explosives Handler physical and Respirator Fit test 
  • Ability to pass Ammo-18 Certification class
  • Sound technical skills
  • Carpentry experience strongly desiredo Must be able to use all basic hand tools (i.e. hammer, square, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.). 
    • Must be able to operation basic power/pneumatic tools (i.e. table saw, skill saw, Sawzall, jig saw, nail guns, etc.). 
    • Must be able to read a tape measure. 
    • Must be able to read basic drawings.  
    • Keep a monthly inventory of supplies
  • Sufficient knowledge of mathematics
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75lbs)
