Aviation Maintenance Software Developer

Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has an open position for an Aviation Maintenance Software Developer. Mission Equipment Subsystem and System Integration Support

Scope: Provide subject matter support services for special operations aircraft (SOA)-peculiar mission equipment being procured/upgraded and fielded by the TAPO, as well as US Army common mission equipment provided by the Army and being integrated and fielded by TAPO. Aircraft Life Cycle Logistics Support MH-47G

Scope: Provide senior expert level aircraft logistic support for the development, integration, and sustainment for the MH-47G helicopter. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Material Fielding Plans and Product Support Plans for fielding and life-cycle sustainment for MH-47G helicopter.
  • Prepare (or review for accuracy), complex requisitions and delivery order requests and coordinate with other offices and services for the acquisition and delivery of components. Requisition standard items from the military wholesale supply system.
  • Develop complex solicitation documents, for the award of new system and component production and repair contracts, including market research studies, Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE), technical evaluations of proposals, Statements of Work, Statements of Objectives and Performance Work Statements. Prepare Business Case Analyses to determine best strategies to implement Performance Based Service contracts.
  • Organize and participate in Program Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) planning meetings, and Preliminary & Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR). Develop detailed recommendations as to maintenance concepts, initial provisioning, and sustainment spares as required on the developmental systems.
  • Advise the PM on the Army processes and policies related to configuration management and updating efforts to Army technical publications, including the MWOs, ECPs, and Army 2028 processes.
  • Provide aircraft level field service support to the 160th SOAR (if required by individual delivery order).

Administrative Specialist

Scope: The Administrative Specialist shall be responsible to support engineering projects with a variety of administrative tasks in the areas of coordination, communication, reception & hospitality, clerical support and technical/digital support. Responsibilities (Not all encompassing):

  • Support the Aviation Applied Technology Directorate Office (AATD), to create, type, transmit, file, store, print and retrieve documents with no or with very few, but quickly correctable, errors. Typical typing at words per minute rates for an Administrative Specialist are expected and use typical Microsoft and Adobe software.
  • Interface with executive-level US Government and Contractor personnel via electronic media and face-to-face on behalf of the Director. The contractor shall demonstrate the appropriate level of maturity and poise in order to interact with these senior levels of government and industry in place of the Director.
  • Plan and set-up virtual or face-to-face meetings for the Director. This includes planning and coordinating transportation, managing and communicating changing events, interfacing with other Headquarters personnel and retrieval of personnel and items in support of those meetings. Ability to use typical electronic communication devices such as multi-line phones and cell phones are expected.
  • Accurately coordinate and schedule the Director’s day-to-day meeting schedule and be able to manage a dynamic and frequently changing set of events to always keep the Director on-time and appropriately informed and situationally aware.

Industrial Maintenance Technician - Carpenter

Quality Assurance Specialist (Ammo)

Scope: Qualified Quality Assurance Specialist supports the work of other NSWC IHEODTD activities, vendors, participating industrial and government activities and the Naval Surface Warfare Center and Naval Air Systems Command.  Provides Command expertise in metals parts, measuring techniques, and quality as a part in the product assurance inspections process. Provides technical expertise and consultation, and is the central review point for discrepant quality evidence and contact point for coordination of quality verification efforts.  Specialist shall be subject to physical examinations and certification requirements.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Interpret drawings and sketches; using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in evaluating parts and interpreting drawings.
  • Evaluate current inspection methods and procedures for accuracy, effectiveness, and productivity. Performs many of the difficult and complicated inspections on weapons, materials and test equipment procured, purchased, produced, modified, or repaired by the Command.
  • Perform technical evaluation to select up to date inspection equipment, techniques, and methods.
  • Coordinate testing of all first article samples. Works with other Divisions within the Department and with other departments. Completes reports and prepares a comprehensive report for the customer.
  • Set up and program various computer controlled equipment used in part measurement and physical evaluation of materials.
  • Monitor the performance of the inspection equipment and the data generated.
  • Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills and assists floor leader in providing advice and assistance to the other inspectors in the Branch.
  • Develop inspection procedures and plans to use by contractor personnel problems.
  • Act as the Command representative to the outside sources involved whether it is another government facility or a private contractor by providing special field advice and assistance visits.
  • Provide technical assistance to Vendor Control and Supply by field advice and meetings with vendors and other government facilities and to evaluate the capability of the vendor to produce the material in question.
  • Participate in the Pre‐Award Surveys and Post‐Award Surveys to evaluate the capability of the Command’s vendors and when called upon by the Fleet Analysis Center.
  • Perform spot‐checks of SIPs, QATIPs, and other inspections of materials for adequacy and thoroughness. Recommends changes where conditions warrant changes and researches and drafts Standard Inspection Procedures used in the receipt inspection of hardware.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Technical expertise in the field of manufactured parts that enables the incumbent to provide advisory services to coworkers, customers, and vendors. Extensive knowledge of the design and materials being used in manufacturing a wide variety of ordnance items to develop and evaluate inspection procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of Programming and the usage of computer controlled measuring equipment. Thorough knowledge of CMM including programming, operating, and interpreting data.
  • Working knowledge of qualifying vendors and Qualified Bidders List (QBL). Working knowledge of Aerospace parts.Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y 14.5) and the ability to apply it using up to date inspection techniques to perform inspections.
  • Working knowledge of various plating/protective finishing processes.
  • Understanding/knowledge of various heat treating and material hardening techniques and electro plating.
