Mission Planning Program Integrator FL

Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA (www.cruzinc.us) is looking for qualified candidates for a Mission Planning and Execution Capabilities Program Integrator Support position. Scope of Performance: Subject matter expertise is required for US Air Force Special Operations Command mission planning and execution software being developed and fielded by the Product Manager (PM) SOMPE in support of Special Operations Forces (SOF). The Program Integrator shall support PM SOMPE by providing technical support for the development of new and the modification of existing mission planning and execution software applications, ensuring software and hardware versions are compatible and suitable to meet a SOF user requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical, analytical, subject matter expertise and program management support for SOF mission planning and execution applications and systems.
  • Interpret and refine user requirements.
  • Conduct software production planning and execution.
  • Develop concise, accurate performance specifications and solicitation documents.
  • Evaluate schedule during the development process and monitor vendor compliance with stated requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the compliance of software products to performance specifications and requirements throughout the development process by conducting evaluations of pre-release engineering versions of software products.
  • Recommend appropriate courses of action should technical problems arise or user requirements change.
  • Provide reports, as required, to document results for tasks contained within this Performance Work Statement.
  • Provide support for software test planning and execution.
  • Provide logistics and resource management planning and support.
  • Travel within the continental U.S. (CONUS) is required. Overseas travel (OCONUS) may also be required on occasion.

Education and Experience-Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years experience working in an SOF air military occupational specialty is required; 5 years of which involved direct experience with mission planning and execution software and hardware (Windows and Android).
  • Requires a Top Secret security clearance.

Education and Experience-Desired:

  • HAHO; HALO; Personnel & Equipment; Precision (Guided) & Conventional SOF Airdrop experience desired.
  • Terrain Following Planning and Execution experience desired.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a program management office, in a relevant commodity in a Combat Developments Division (CDD), or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.

Project Integrator / Subject Matter Expert (SME) Support for SOMPE

Scope: Provides expert advice, assistance, and guidance in support of highly complex Special Operations Mission Planning software and hardware programs being procured/upgraded and fielded by the Special Operation Mission Planning Program Office (SOMPO). The SME must possess significant knowledge and experience with Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS) tools, Microsoft Operating Systems, and Microsoft Office products. Successful performance requires extensive knowledge of USSOCOM fixed wing platforms and mission equipment, SOMPO modernization initiatives, DoD acquisition processes, and the ability to interface effectively with industry partners, Government agencies, and senior operational and acquisition leaders. Uses a wide application of principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to develop innovative solutions to problems. Applies expert knowledge to gather facts, research and analyze the data, and develop conclusions, recommendations, and implement/execute approved project plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Aids the software development team on Computer Based Training initiatives.
  • Creates training videos and other training aids in support of SOMPO mission planning products
  • Organizes and leads Program Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) and Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR).
  • Supports independent developmental test and evaluation initiatives for SOMPO and Service developed software programs.
  • Supports testing initiatives for: technical compliance of defined requirements, functional capability, performance, usability, product install and uninstall procedures, integration within a specified software environment on host computer hardware platforms, and data loading/retrieval operations to specific platforms.
  • Serves as senior technical adviser to the SOMPO PM on complex and critical projects.
  • Provides the highest level of technical, analytical, and program management support for all SOMPO managed commodities.
  • Identifies potential risks, develops appropriate mitigation plans and implements solutions should technical issues arise, or user requirements change.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Scientific, or related technical discipline or equivalent technical training or work experience.
  • 20 years experience working in military aviation.

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Former Military Instructor at a DoD Formal Training Institution.
  • 10 years SOF Mission Planning experience.

Technical Writer

Scope:  This position will work closely with customers to develop and maintain Navy specifications and technical manuals.  Technical assignments for this position are diverse and require the ability to work with little supervision.  Duties include technical documentation review, technical editing, and copy preparation.  Position requires technical writing skills and demonstrated ability in the operation of publishing/editorial software to compose text and tables, copy editing, and art work.   

Responsibilities: (Not all encompassing)

  • Analyzes and reviews style and format of technical documents for compliance with Department of Defense standards, specifications, and instructions.
  • Verifies format, style, content arrangement, and other publication requirements for any technical document that does not conform to existing specifications.
  • Ensures conformance to established specifications (style, format, and publication content requirements).  
  • Ensures correct use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. 
  • Prepares final documents for printing and distribution.    

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in English, technical writing, education, or journalism (experience may substitute for degree).
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Adobe Pro (2007 and up) required.
  • Secret or Interim Secret security clearance is required.
  • Strong English and/or prior technical editing background desired.
  • Must be highly skilled with keyboard and software programs.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Industrial Maintenance Technician

Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has an open position and is looking for qualified candidates for an Industrial Maintenance Technician I. Scope of Performance: Qualified electrician to support maintenance, repair, and installation of explosive and chemical processing equipment. Technician will work in all explosive and chemical processing areas as determined by management or COR.  Technician shall be subject to physical examinations and certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tasks may include but are not limited to routine maintenance, repair, installation and modification to existing or new process equipment.  This work includes hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronics, pipe fitting, and steam fitting.
  • Troubleshoot repairs, modifies, and conducts preventative maintenance on complex electrical, mechanical, and processing systems.
  • Electrical tasks range from bending conduit and pulling wire to wiring 3 phase pumps, motor starters motor control centers, and control wiring.
  • Technician may be required to execute written maintenance procedures and document work completed on record sheets to be archived in data base.

Education and Experience – Required: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to gain/maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Ability to pass Explosives Handler physical and Respirator Fit test
  • Ability to pass Ammo-18 Certification class
  • Sound technical skills
  • Pipefitting/electrical experience strongly desired
  • Sufficient knowledge of mathematics
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 lbs)
  • Steam pipe fitter background encouraged
