Scope:  The Flight Test Engineer (FTE) support shall be responsible for the planning, execution, and reporting of developmental flight test that supports research and advanced concept programs that support aviation initiatives for ADD, the Army, Government agencies, and the defense industry. The FTE shall coordinate and execute ground and flight test or test related activities for the various research and development activities. The FTE will coordinate test efforts with acquisition agencies including Program Management offices, TRADOC System Managers, contractors, and the user community.   Additionally, FTEs may act as Test Directors and supervise flight test programs and all test flight activities on assigned projects and programs. FTEs shall collect, reduce, and analyze data from ground and flight tests, and report on testing activities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform flight engineer test duties both from ground test control locations as well as collection of data in flight in multiple aircraft types.
  • Coordinate and execute ground and flight testing or test-related activities for various research and development activities to include: airfield or off-site testing activities, test program management, project test support, and program management for test activities.
  • Act as Test Directors and supervise flight test programs and all test flight activities on assigned projects and programs.
  • Collect, reduce, and analyze data from ground and flight tests, and report on testing activities.
  • Author test plans and formal test reports, rendering judgments regarding the relative merits of the tested aircraft or system and making recommendations relative to the intended military mission.

Scope: This position is to provide very highly skilled software flight test pilot to serve as the technical test coordinator of all software flight testing on ARSOA platforms. This position will support flight testing in the MDS they are qualified in and facilitate test coordination and execution for all software associated flight tests for aircraft types that have been modified (internally and externally) with very advanced electronics and sensor systems to non-standard configurations. Hardware/Software integration and developmental flight testing requires an exceptionally wide background of experience and training to evaluate aircraft operational procedures and mechanical deficiencies and recommend new procedures or corrective action, also a tremendous level of knowledge, skill and judgment. Responsibilities include research, development, test and evaluation duties for all ARSOA aircraft and aviation systems acquisition programs associated with the ARSOAC. Conducts developmental flight tests that require the application of in depth flying knowledge coupled with of substantial knowledge of avionics systems and software acumen. Contractor applies a thorough knowledge of airworthiness requirements to unique and complex electronic equipment and internal/external sensor installations to the unit aircraft. Responsible for flying precise developmental flight test profiles day and night under critical conditions of loading, speed, maneuvering, weather, and in close proximity to the ground or over water.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience with military rotary wing aircraft.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop software programs for both Windows and Android mobile environments from Warfighter requirements to enhance situational awareness, mission planning and execution. Coding languages utilized to build software: C#, .NET, VB, VBA, WPF, Java and Xamarin.
  • Provide technical assistance to the end user and MPSE’s by troubleshooting and applying corrective action to issues associated with unclassified/classified networks, Windows/Android operating systems and mission planning software.
  • Routinely test the Aircraft/Weapons/Electronics (AWE) program operating the Aircraft Software Integration Lab. Specifically load and verify data accuracy for flight plans, communications, and ASE for the MH6M, MH47G and MH60M aircraft.
  • Converse with SOMPE Engineers and Mission Planning 3rd Party developers by providing guidance and technical expertise in the early stages of software development to ensure the warfighter gets a usable product out of the box.
  • Consistently engage with Regimental Standards and SIMO Aircraft cells to ensure mission planning software and weight & balance applications are current with latest aircraft modifications.
  • Prepares required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation and enhances software to reduce operating time or efficiency.
